This Privacy Policy describes how Generate Canada Inc., operating as the Canadian Alliance for Net Zero Agri‑food (“CANZA”) (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information in connection with your participation in the Million Acre Challenge program (the “Program”) and your creation of an account in, and use of, the Environmental Outcomes Marketplace (which may also be referred to as the CANZA Marketplace”). This Policy applies to Program participants (farm businesses and their authorized representatives) and to Certified Crop Advisors (e.g., CCAs) who interact with the CANZA Marketplace. This Policy does not govern information collection on unrelated websites we may link to. See Links to Other Websites.
We collect the following categories of information (collectively, “User Data”).
● Identifiers (e.g., name, alias, email, account name),
● Postal address,
● Online identifiers (including IP addresses, standard internet logs, device identifiers),
● Land information, including geospatial data (including geo-located photos), and historical land management data
● Sensor & Machine Data, including data collected by equipment, machinery, and software that monitor crops/soil/livestock/poultry/operations (which may include satellite imagery and yield maps).
● Other project data, including proofs of payment for eligible activities (e.g., receipts/invoices), program participation surveys, direct user inputs, questionnaires, and email interactions necessary to execute Program outcomes.
● Directly from you via the CANZA Marketplace (manual entry, uploads, forms, surveys).
● Via connected services through APIs (e.g., John Deere Operations Center, Climate FieldView) when you opt in and authorize data flows.
● From CCAs you authorize to view/edit/upload on your behalf.
● Automatically through the CANZA Marketplace
● From service providers that deliver geospatial, modelling, measurement, verification,
or related tools used by the Program.
● From emails or questionnaires where you provide information for Program administration.
● Program Administration & Operations. Enrolment, eligibility, oversight, communications, funding verification, and issuance/management of cost-share funds.
● Participant Insights. Generating analytical outputs/insights for your benefit, including individualized annual reports summarizing the tangible impacts of practices tried on enrolled acres.
● MMRV of Environmental Outcomes. Measurement, monitoring, reporting, and verification of outcomes (e.g., GHG reductions, carbon sequestration, biodiversity, water benefits).
● Marketplace Support & Oversight. Maintaining functionality, user support, technical reliability, and integrity of Program data flows.
● AI/Model Training (Program-bound). Training artificial intelligence models or systems connected with the Marketplace and Program functions (e.g., data quality checks, benchmarking improvements). We do not train unrelated third-party advertising models using your identifiable data.
● Aggregated/De-identified Uses. Creating and using aggregated or de-identified datasets for research, educational reporting, and benchmarking, including support for broader environmental or sustainability initiatives, and potential future sales of environmental outcomes
We do not sell your User Data.
We rely on your consent to collect, use, and disclose User Data as described. You may withdraw consent at any time for ongoing processing (see Your Rights), recognizing that certain processing already performed or data already aggregated/de-identified cannot be undone. We may also process information as required or permitted by law (e.g., to meet regulatory reporting, respond to legal process, or protect our rights).
We may disclose your User Data for the following purposes:
● Within CANZA / Generate Canada to personnel and contractors with a need to know for the purposes above.
● CCAs that you designate and authorize in the CANZA Marketplace (access is limited to your farm business(es) they support).
● Service Providers (data management, analysis, modelling, verification, technical services, secure hosting)
● Research Partners (e.g., access to de-identified/anonymized datasets for research, education, benchmarking).
● Potential Buyers (Environmental Outcomes): We may use aggregated and de- identified datasets in connection with potential future sales of environmental outcomes. Any sale involving participant-level data would require a separate agreement and your consent.
● Outbound/Inbound Integrations you enable
● Corporate transactions to which we are a party (e.g., merger, acquisition, reorganization) where permitted by law and subject to applicable requirements. In any future transition of this platform to a related entity, your personal information would continue to be stewarded for the same purposes and subject to comparable
privacy protections. You would also be notified.
● Otherwise as required or permitted by applicable law or to protect rights, safety, or property, or to comply with any lawful request of a legal authority.
